2008 GracePoint Family Camp

Back in September we had our church's 2nd annual Family Camp at Camp Beaver Fork. It goes Friday night-Saturday noon and we had a great time! Thought I would share a few hilights from the weekend :)

Mmmm, SMORES!!!! (He loves the headlamp...)
On Friday night we had a talent show. Usually Charles is not a 'get up in front of people' person, but this time he was all about it!! (Well, he was actually hidden, but still!!) He did a puppet show with his 'jokes' that he tells us at home. It was great. (The camera was a little shaky...sorry, I was laughing!!)

Shocking, I know.......

I've been waiting to post until I have a chance to get some of our recent pictures downloaded to the computer, but it's been so long since I've posted I decided to post....that's right.....without pictures....I'm as shocked as you are.

Our days in the Hefner household have been pretty hectic lately. For the last month-ish Bo has been on 12 hour night shift. FUN!!! Yea....The boys and I get home at around 5-5:30 and Bo leaves for work at 6. This month he is on Fridays so he has Monday off but we actually see him less because we don't see him but those 30 minutes or so on Friday afternoon, then he has to sleep all day Saturday to recoup from the night before, so we are together Sunday, then Monday he doesn't have to sleep all day because he doesn't have to go in that night but.....I have work and I can't leave both boys with him because should he need to go somewhere, both boys and their car seats don't fit too well in the ranger :) And next months he will be on full weekends, Friday, Saturday, Sunday......so guess how much we will see him then. Yea, practically none. Yesterday was great for Charles though, he stayed home with Daddy and they had a boys day. Charles got to go in the woods with Daddy and see his hunting spot and Daddy put on hunting pants and his hunting boots because the grass was tall and there's bugs in the grass so Daddy had to hold him and then he helped him put out corn and they went to the hunting stores and to Daddy's work and he had a bottle, but not a baby bottle, the kind you put coke in, and he was hitting it and one time he hit it and it hit his finger and then it started to bleed!!........yes, he has been telling everyone he comes in contact with about his exciting day :) It's so sweet!!

I've been chosen to be the children's choir director at church, this is the first time they have had one, and tomorrow is our first practice!! Saturday we have VBC (Vacation Bible Club) we are just doing it for the day. And next Friday night and Saturday we have family camp, it is really fun. We are just praying that Bo is able to get off Friday night to be able to go!!!!!

Ok, I have now officially posted without pictures. Must say, it was more painless than I thought it would be. But I know I know (Mom and Daeon) that you want pictures, I will post with them shortly. Really........No, seriously.....Ok, maybe not that shortly, but soon!

Loves, Hugs, hunting and church camp!

My Husband is Amazing

So lastnight Bo and Charles were out in the back and Bo was practicing his archery skills, as hunting season is quickly approahing. Charles comes in and tells me that Daddy want me to come outside and watch him, which is usual, we all usually sit outside together and watch. So I went out and sat on the deck, Bo tells me to put shoes on so I can come out by him in the grass.....ok. So I did. Went out with him, he shot his bow a couple times and I watched. Now, if you know us very well you know that Bo is an avid hunter, and I have gotten really in to it myself. Last year I got my first deer, with a muzzle loader. Anyway, so I am out there with Bo and he hands me a release (for you non bow-hunters, that is what you use to pull back and 'release' the bow string) and says he is going to let the weight down on his to see if I can pull it back (all bows have different draw weights, his is set at like 60lbs but can go down to about 40) so I am standing there waiting. All of a sudden he gets this giddy look on his face and says "alright, now close your eyes. I got you something." If you know Bo very well, you know he can be a prankster, so I am somewhat nervous, I just kinda laughed and said "no! You're gonna do something to me!!" He finally convinced me to close my eyes and he started leading me, he led me to the trailer, which we keep in the back yard on the side of the house. I had noticed earlier that there was a tarp laying on the trailer, but Charles' little pool was also laying up there and he had bought a tarp to set the pool up and cover so we wouldn't have to keep setting and resetting it, so I assumed that was what the tarp was for. So I hear him move the tarp around and he tells me to open my eyes. I turn around, and there is a bow case. I open it, there is a bow. For me. A bow. For me. Oh. My. Gosh. !!!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited!!!!!!! A friend had given us a bow for me to use last year, but it was older and bigger. Great to learn with, I got to shoot it last year and work my arm up a little. But this bow, is AWESOME. See, we have been looking for a few weeks at bows for me, but I really thought we were just looking. I got up to shooting that older bow last year to about 43lbs and since Bo's bow goes down that far, and he really really would like to have a new one, I fully expected to get his bow, which is a really nice bow, and find him a new bow. Makes sense, he hunts....daily, during the season. I get to hunt on some weekends and maybe a couple evenings during the week here and there. So when he told me last night that he was going to let down and see if I could shoot his bow, I really thought that was what was going to happen. He would let it down, I would be able to pull it back, and I would get his bow. So when I opened that case and saw that I had a brand new bow, the exact one I had picked out as my favorite while we were looking, I just couldn't believe it!!!! How awesome is my husband?? I still just can't believe it. I cannot wait to start practicing with it, I got to shoot it a couple times last night but it was getting too dark. Thank you Bo. You are amazing!!

I haven't had a chance to take a picture of my actual bow yet, but here are some pics of it I found. It is a Hoyt Trykon Sport. Hoyt is one of the top brands in compound bows (yes, it is what Michael Waddell shoots. If you don't know who Michael Waddell is, shame on you!!). These pictures are of bare-bows (no accessories), Bo had mine loaded down with all the accessories :) :) :) so I will be taking pictures and posting again soon!!!!!

NASHVEGAS

It is official. While uploading pictures for this blog I realized that I have a serious problem. An addiction, really. PICTURE TAKING. They should have PTA meetings, and I don't mean Parent Teacher Association either....no; Picture Takers Anonymous.

For 4th of July weekend we went up to Nashville to see Daeon, Ben and Stormy. We left Thursday and came back Monday. We had a great time!! We went to MTSU for fireworks on Friday night, Saturday one of Dae and Ben's friends watched the boys and we went to a concert; awesome. Sunday we got sno-cones, went to the park, cooked out, and played some cards. There was some sprinkler time during the weekend too; the boys and Stormy had a ball!!

Will and Stormy getting to know eachother

Golf 101
The picture says it all Stormy got bored with all the golf talk

And maybe we did too......

I'd say so

The Concert

Gary Allen was there but we were running a little late. It was an outdoor stadium (LP Field; Titans Stadium) so we got to hear him do 3-4 songs while we were walking up, but didn't get to actually see him.

LeAnne Rimes, she was so good

Sammy Hagar, He was so......strange..?

Keith Urban, I actually wasn't looking forward to him all so much, but he changed my mind. He was awesome.

He even got down in the crowd during one of his songs
The concert was a stop on the Poets and Pirates Tour which if you know country music, you most likely know is Kenny Chesneys '08 tour. So he was the 'main event'.

And a special guest appearance by....Jennifer Nettles!!!!! I was SO excited!! She only sang one song (stay) but she was a.maz.ing
The concert goers (realized later we never got a picture of all four of us, we sat in differentsections though. We hadn't really planned to go, it was a last minute thing and we bought our tickets online the day of, they already had their tix)

Sprinkler Time!!

This is the funniest picture
Don't they appear to be so sweet....

Fourth of July
